Can a Laser debit card be used in the United States?

Laser is the primary debit card system used in Ireland. My cousins are coming out to the states and they wanted to know if they are able to use this card here. Does anybody know if they can?|||Likely not. No one really accepts anything other than MasterCard and Visa. It took ages to accept Discover and hardly anyone uses them.
