How can I pay online by using master debit card?

I have a mastercard debit card? Does anyone have any idea about this card? Can I buy product online by using this card? What are the information i should usually keyed in? Which are the most onlne merchant that accept debit master card? Am i asking so many question??|||Don't start gambling online.

This is the best advice anyone will give you my friend.|||yes you use it like a normal MasterCard.

fill in the number and expiry date and the amount you wish to pay|||just when they ask for the debit number use your master number|||All the information you need should have neeb contained with your card - assuming that it IS your card !!!!! xxx|||Yes, I've a few of MasterCard debit cards. You can use them on any websites that support using MasterCard and Visa cards. Just only key in the 16-digits on the front of your card and followed by the last 3-digits, at the back of your card, ONLY if required to be keyed. And also key in the Expiry date and the Amount you need to pay for. The BEST thing about it is, there will be NO admin or interests charged for using debit cards and it is a PLUS point for using these cards. I find them especially user-friendly and easy-to-use. Nope, you're not asking a lot of questions. Feel free to let me know if you've more doubts! You can buy anything online as long as the online merchants are using MasterCard %26amp; Visa card services. Also, REMEMBER that online merchants with VERISIGN logos are really authentic sellers. Don't use your cards anywhere you think it is safe!|||Yes I have an idea, that it maybe isn't your card!|||In answer to your final question - YES.|||Yes you can, as long as the company accepts MasterCard (most do) and you have enough money in your bank account to cover the charges. The information they will ask you is your card number, the expiration date of the card, and maybe the secured 3 digit number located on the back of your card (of course your name and address and the ship to address).

How long does it take to receive your debit card in the mail after signing up? ?

I plan on signing up for a checking account soon, and i was wondering how long it took to receive the official debit card in the mail? Also do they give u a temporary card in the mean time?|||It should take no more than 7 to 10 days to receive your debit card. Most banks do not give out a temporary one, you have to wait for the actual one to arrive.|||I requested a replacement debit card tuesday 10/11/11 %26amp; received it in the mail friday 10/21/11. I was issued a temporary ATM card until my new debit card arrived in the mail.

Does Orbitz allow you to purchase plane tickets with a debit card?

I haven't been able to find a straight answer from anywhere online. If they don't what are some plane ticket websites that allow you to purchase with a debit card?|||yes to them it will be processed as a credit card transaction

but you must have enough money in your bank account first else it will be declined

as the money is coming out of your bank account

Is there any car rental company besides budget thats lets you use a debit card to rent Full size Suvs?

I do not own a credit card, and would like to rent a full size suv.

But so far i have learned that budget is the only company that would let you use a debit card throughout the whole rental process. Is there any others?|||No. They all legally require a Credit Card on file for you to take the car. You will not find this anywhere.|||I don't think that it is true that only Budget accepts debit cards. Avis, for example, accepts debit cards at most locations and I believe that most (if not all) of the major companies accept them. However, some locations are franchises whose polices may be different.

They will probably place a hold on funds in your account in addition to the cost of the rental to cover damage or if you keep the car longer than reserved. You can read Avis' policy on debit cards at this link:

http://www.avis.com/AvisWeb/JSP/global/e鈥?/a>

Check the websites of the other rental companies to confirm their policies.|||None of the 8 car rental companies I checked, listed any vehicle restrictions related to the use of debit cards. There is an age restriction: you must be 25 to use a debit card. Here are the basic policies I found:

Alamo

When renting in the U.S., debit and check cards may only be used in conjunction with proof of a round trip travel ticket (airline, cruise ship or train) at time of rental.

A debit/check card is considered to be any non-credit card bearing the VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card logo.

Avis

Most US locations also accept bank debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo as credit identification at the time of rental

At an airport location you must also show:

A round trip airline ticket, e-ticket, or travel itinerary to or from the airport of rental, disclosing a return date and showing the renter's name

A valid U.S. passport or current U.S. military identification card. The name must match the name on the renter's U.S. issued driver's license

A current vehicle insurance card. The name and address must match the name and address on the renter's driver license;

OR a current copy (within the last 60 Days) of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill which shows your name and current address. Your name and address must match the U.S. issued driver's license in order to provide the renting location with proof of an accurate address.

Renting at an Off-Airport location you must show:

A current copy (within the last 60 days) of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill which shows your name and current address. Your name and address must match your U.S. issues driver's license in order to provide the renting location with proof of an accurate address OR a valid U.S. passport or current U.S. military identification card. Your name must match the name on the your U.S. issued driver's license.

Avis reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to seek a Debit Card authorization hold in excess of the estimated rental charges. When using a debit card at Avis there may be a minimum hold of $500 and a maximum hold of the estimated rental charges will be placed on your account.

Upon returning the vehicle, Avis will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your Bank's procedures. The hold may take up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.

Dollar:

Debit Card Usage: If the customer presents a debit card at the beginning of rental to qualify to rent, we will perform a debit card check and credit inquiry screening through Equifax Credit Information Services, Inc. This type of inquiry will screen out customers who present a greater driving risk to us, using a standard set of criteria. The credit inquiry is posted on the customer's credit report and may have an effect on the customer's credit evaluation. In the event that a customer's debit card check and credit inquiry fail to meet our debit card criteria, the customer will not be allowed to rent unless they provide a major credit card in their own name.

Enterprise

Some of our Enterprise locations will accept a debit card for the rental deposits and payments. Please contact the office you plan to rent from to determine their policies on renting with a debit card.

Hertz

Credit cards must have available credit, and debit/check cards must have the available funds, for the estimated amount of rental charges plus up to $200 in order to secure the rental. Eligible debit cards must have Visa, Mastercard or Discover logo. Stored value/prepaid/gift cards are not acceptable to qualify for rental, however these cards may be used for payment at return.

Please note that at time of rental you will need to present (1) a current driver's license and (2) a valid credit or charge card in the renter's name. At most Hertz locations in the United States, Puerto Rico, and U. S. Virgin Islands, Hertz will allow you to present certain debit/check cards in place of a credit or charge card; use of a debit card to rent a vehicle is subject to review of your credit history.

National

When renting in the U.S., debit and check cards may only be used in conjunction with proof of a round trip travel ticket (airline, cruise ship or train) at time of rental.

A debit/check card is considered to be any non-credit card bearing the VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card logo.

Any other non-credit card without the VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card logo is not accepted.

Thrifty

As a general rule, a major credit card is required at the time of rental. However, when renting from many US locations, you may be allowed to use a debit or check card to rent.

Are you able to buy items from online retailers with a debit card?

I know the answer is a yes, what I'm really wanting to ask is how is there anyway I can make a major purchase (say an HDTV, computer) and pay using my debit card but not pay the full price right away? Is there no "money down, monthly payment" option available in any sort of way for a debit card? thanks in advance.|||If you understand that a debit card is also know as a check card, or an ATM card that draws money directly out of your bank account, it's the same as writing a check. You cannot write a check for more than what is in your account.

You need to have a credit feature on your account or set up separate financing.|||Nope, you need a credit card, or you can set up a line of credit at your bank thats attached to your checking account. Anytime you go over the extra gets put on a loan you have to make payments to.

What is the Maximum amount of money i can put in my debit card?

I have a mastercard debit card. My bank is capital one if that helps.|||A Debit card is only electronic access to your current account. So the answer is as much as you have in your current account. It is NOT a credit card!|||You don't put money on a debit card, you put the money into the ACCOUNT tied to the debit card. There is no limit to how much you can have. If you have a trillion dollars, then you can put all of it in that account.

Is it easier to apply for a debit card than for a credit card?

I need to get either because I have to buy some textbooks off amazon because im in college but I dont have a credit card or debit card. Is it easier to get a debit card?|||You can always get a debit card bit you can't always get a credit card. For a debit card you need to open a bank account and then you need to put money into it to use your debit card. With a credit card you are borrowing money and you will need to show you can pay it back, that you don't have a bad credit rating, that you are over the legal age and that you have a steady income. The debit card is a sure thing as long as you have some money to open an account with.|||No, it isn't, to get a credit card all you have to do is go to any store or bank and apply. There will be several different cards that you may choose from that fit your budget and there is less risk due to id theft with a credit card than there is from a debit card. I would go to a bank for one and go for a standard issue one as opposed to one that is meant just for students. The problem with those is that many credit card companies are vultures and often times write in 'catches' that may screw you over as a student (extra fees and usage fines). Go for one with a relatively low spending limit (just to maintain control) and make sure to try to pay it off at the end of every month to prevent problems. Have you ever tried googling your textbook ISBN numbers to see if there are better deals elsewhere, try it, you can save a bundle that way. Just ask your instructors if they could give the numbers to you and go for express shipping. Good luck bro.|||If you can open a checking account you can have a debit card. When you use the debit card, the money you have in your checking is deducted. So as long as you have money in your account, you can either take the money out by writing checks or using a debit card. '

If you have a credit card, and buy things with it, you are borrowing money and paying interest. You must make at least a minimum payment per month or preferably pay it off in full when the bill comes to you.|||Debit and credit cards work very differently. Debit cards are linked to your checking account and use the money you have. Credit cards are essentially a line of credit aka a loan.

Youll need to have good credit in order to have a credit card and have a means to pay back what youve borrowed. Also, it will take a while for the card to get in and your credit limit, if youve never had one before, may range from $250 on up. Your monthly income affects whether or not youll even be eligible for a card. No job means no card.

If you dont have a checking account, please open one. Its a great way to establish yourself. Plus, any loans require an open, active account. Plus, did you know you can have your tax refund directly deposited and youll get it faster that way?|||A debit card is nothing to get; all it is is a plastic checkbook backed by Visa or Mastercard. Since it draws from your account immediately, and won't draw at all if funds are insufficient, no credit is needed (since no credit is used). You just need a bank account (some banks may want a minimum deposit to be maintained).|||I would recommend you to go ahead to get a credit card, and start to build your good credit history.

Of course, the top choice is still the Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Credit Card for College Students. This Citi mtvU Card is specialized for college students. You get 5 thankyou points for each dollar spent at restaurants, bookstores, video stores and movie theaters. Meanwhile you can also get 5 thankyou points for every dollar at Amazon.com. Plus you can rewards for being a good student. You can earn 250~2,000 bonus thankyou points each semester for maintaining a good GPA. In a word, this Citi mtvU card is highly recommended for college students. (Citi is also very friendly to grant college student this card to help student to build the credit)

http://tinyurl.com/citiStudentCard09|||Generally it is easier to get a debit card. Most checking accounts at banks offer a debit card for free along with the account. Check your local bank to see if they offer either free or student checking. I can bet that it will come with a debit card.|||You apply for a credit card but you do not apply for a debit card. A debit card is used instead of checks and money is withdrawn from your checking account.

So, if you don't have the money, go with credit.|||Definitely debit card.

What to do when a transaction at a shop with DEBIT card was declined while the account had a healthy balance?

I have an active debit card attached to my savings account with ICICI Bank in India that attracts an annual fee of Rs 99 (USD2 appx). I bought grocery worth Rs 231(US$5 appx) and thought it convenient to pay with my debit card. The bank allows such low value purchases as it's a debit card. To my horror, the shop clerk told me that my transaction was declined. Knowing that my account held over Rs 12000 (USD 260 appx) as balance with no cheques issued or dues, I asked her to try again, which she did twice. I saw the terminal sending request and receiving reply and then the transaction being declined. Losing face, I had to pay by cash. Back home, after an hour, I checked my account online. My account was debited three times but the debits were reversed only twice. I saved the data in PDF and, after ten minutes, found that the account was credited with a reverse entry once again, setting off the debit. What should I do about the trouble that the bank made me go through?|||Probably caused by a delay in getting approval. In other words because it is a foreign bank it probably had to pass thru several network nodes and by the time the bank approved it the requesting POS terminal (system) had timed out the request. That also explains the reversals, because the requesting POS system never verified the transaction was completed.|||Does your debit card have a MasterCard or Visa symbol. If so, you can choose credit button and it may work.

Also, I think another reason is the bank may be denying the transaction is they think it is fraudulent. My advice is to call your bank and tell them you want to use it overseas in the U.S. some banks require you to notify them to use it outside of your home country. You can also try an atm. Make sure you use one that does not hold your card while you do the transaction. Choose primary credit if your debit card has either a visa or mastercard symbol. If your card has a visa plus, mastero and/or cirrus symbol but the atm does not take this. Try running it as primary credit. sometimes it will work at atm this way. Otherwise try savings. A lot of US merchant will not take maestro but some do.

Can I add minutes on a verizon phone with a debit card over the phone?

I have a verizon prepaid phone, I know you can buy minutes over the phone with a credit card, but can you do it with a debit card?|||If the card has a Visa or Mastercard logo you can use it the same as a credit card, except that you can't spend more money than you have.

Can I use a re loadable prepaid Visa debit card with Pay Pal?

I don' have a real credit or debit card. I was wondering if a re loadable prepaid Visa debit card would work on Pay Pal?|||Absolutely. As long as the prepaid card has a VISA logo it can be used as a traditional credit card when linking it to PayPal. Just select the credit card option and enter the card information as you normally would with a credit card. The only difference between a prepaid VISA card and a VISA credit card is that the prepaid card only allows you to spend what has already been loaded on the card while credit cards let you buy on credit.

When you create a online brokerage account, can i use a debit card?

I know you can add money into a online brokerage account with checks or debit card, I just want to make sure i can start with my debit card. You have to wait 24 hours until you start? Another problem is when i claim my profits and or dividends from a stock will it automatically add into my debit card?|||Might i suggest you ask a potential Broker this question, rather then asking random people.

This is kinda like asking what does XYZ bank charge in Fees|||Sure, why not?|||NO

MONEY MUST BE TRANSFERRED BY A BANK ACCOUNT

Can I use my Canadian Debit Card in Iceland?

I'm planning a trip to Iceland and have heard the country is going through some economic struggles (to put it lightly). Will my TD Canada Trust debit card work at atms in Iceland or should I bring exchanged currency with me?

I called and asked my bank and they had "no information regarding the economic status or operating status of ATMs in Iceland."

Thanks!|||I would be 99% confident it would work. Unless the country literally melts down completely, which is highly unlikely, the infrastructure will continue to function. If you card is part of a larger network, which almost all of them are nowadays, you should be fine (and it's better than bringing currency with you, in terms of the exchange rate).

P.S. My ATM card (from the States) worked in *Russia* when I was there in the late 90's...if that's possible Iceland should be a slam dunk!

Is it illegal in the state of Texas to offer cash back through a credit card/debit card machine in a bar>?

Being sold an ATM machine for placement in a bar in Tarrant County, Texas. Seller is telling me that there is legislation against bars or restaurants selling alcoholic beverages being allowed to offer credit card/ debit card customers cash back. Stating that as the reason I must have ATM instead of programming credit card/ debit card machine to allow cash back.|||Sorry I don't know. However, You could check with your state legislator or the alcohol state regulatory commissions/board.

Remember the seller want you to buy an ATM. They could try any thing so you will bye it.

The best place to check. Is where you get your alcohol licenses from.

There is nothing wrong with a bar using a point of sale terminal that take both credit and debit cards. The debit part can allow cash back. The Credit part will not at this time.

Is paypal the only form of payment available to register debit card on?

i have try registering my visa debit card on paypal so i can shop online, they keep telling stuff like there and error, after trying for 3 times they say the card is disabled. are ther anything other than paypal that i can use?|||Many online merchants will accept Visa debit/check cards directly without going through PayPal.

How do I update my debit card information on ebay?

I have recently recieved a new Visa Debit card in the post from RBS and I want to know how I should update my debit card information...

I clicked on PayPal and entered the new details, but its asking for me to "complete verification" by adding all my Bank Branche's info... I don't remember having to do this before.

HELP! A step by step guide would be handy right now :/

Thankyee Guys %26lt;3|||i did it last week by going to my paypal account and adding new card , then i removed old card and got a verication code on my visa account to activate my new card on paypal and ebay, its working fine for me, hope thats of some help to you.|||Hi! I've had to do the same thing, and I think they go out of their way to hide all the places you need to make the change. I tried and tried, and then I went to Ebay and used the "contact them" link. I got a real time helper on the line who walked me through step by step. If you ask me, that's a cadillac service for free, and boy does it make things easy and speed it all up! Try that, and good luck to you!|||Log into Ebay and click on "My Account" you can update any information

there - including you card information - then you must go to Pay Pal and

do the same - that is all it is to it -|||Easiest way is to remove entirely the card you have registered now - and start again! Adding two cards causes all sorts of hassle with PP.

Can I buy scratch tickets with a debit card?

As last minute stocking stuffers for out-of-town family (I'm the one travelling and need to pick them up asap), I wanted to get Massachusetts State Lottery scratch tickets. Does anyone know if I can buy them with a debit card? You can buy ANYTHING on debit, pretty much, but I didn't know if lottery is different. Thanks!|||I think it's cash only, but maybe it's different in your state. Call the local store and ask them. If they don't, you can always get cash back from a purchase and buy the lottery tickets.|||in colorado it's cash only but I don't know about massachusetts.|||No. But you can get the money out of the ATM and buy the tickets with cash.|||No you can't because I won't allow it because that's the worst thing you can do. Debit cards should be toward actual items, like getting your money's worth.

If you use that debit card, then I'm gonna open up a can of whoop-as@ on you and give you a couple of Stone Cold Stunners.

Make sure you use $1 dollar bills.

And that's the bottom line ,'cause "imansobyadayadayada" said so!!!|||If it's got a major credit card logo then no...Lottery tickets of any sort cannot be bought with a credit card because it's too easy to say it was fraudulent use.

How would I link a debit card in paypal?

I'm trying to buy something via paypal, i linked my bank account, but the person I am buying from needs instant payment. It told me to link a debit card, which I have no idea how to do :/|||if you already have a paypal account, when you log in, you should see under "Notifications" box the hyperlink to "Link and Confirm my debit or credit card." its on the right hand side.

Has anyone who used the Greendot debit card for direct deposit received their refund yet?

I am a bit nervous as I have never chosen to have my tax refund deposited to my debit card before. I have had this card for more than two years. It is a regular Greendot not the Turbo Tax Debit Card.|||sunshine is SOOOOOO wrong..I know plenty of people that called their banks late yesterday afternoon and got told its "pending"..and I used a netspend card...prepaid like green dot last year and got my refund on that friday......basically what happens is....the IRS started sending the deposits out late yesterday and will contine to do so today. then its up to YOUR bank to make the funds available...some banks do it instantly..which is why you may hear of some getting their refunds today...others do it every couple of hours..but MOSt banks will have it issued by tomorrow, the 29th...a small few will take a few days...but I bet anything you'll have it tomorrow...not tuesday!!!!!|||I have never used this card but I want to add one thing to Amy's comment. All of the refunds scheduled for Friday were sent out around the time that the WMR site updated. Think about it the returns went out and the site updated. They have a release date of tomorrow but some banks do not hold the funds. The reason the pending status showed up at different times yesterday is because the bank processed them at that time not because they were received then. Good luck getting your money on time or early :)|||My girlfriend used the Turbo Tax card to get her deposit, go figure, it's a Greendot card as well!! She did her taxes on January 8th, I waited until the 18th to use the Tax Freedom free from TT. I used a All-Access Visa Prepaid Debit Card to have mine deposited to. I got mine January 26 (yesterday), she still has not gotten hers. So it's not just Friday's that everyone says. If your card is in good standing, you should have no problems. Check Friday after 8AM EST.|||I use my Greendot every year and when its deposited its avalible.|||I love the way sunshine gives that same answer all the time but she is soooooo wrong mine was deposited into my bank account(it showed up about 5am Mountain) this morning I don't use greendot our bank is USAA.....good luck all!!!!!|||The IRS only dd on Fridays at Midnight. The banks getting the dd will not process till Monday

Your funds will be available Tues am

How old do you have to be to have a visa prepaid debit card?

I saw a brochure about a reloadable debit card that has no overdraft fees and spend only what you load. Its by Advance America and it looked cool so i wanted one but i don't know the age limit. (Im turning 13 next week)|||You can have one at any age. This is basically a "gift card".|||giving you a debit card would be like giving a rabies infected gorilla a baby and a knife.

Does paypal debit card helps to get credit?

I want to apply for the paypal debit card but im unsecure.

Will the Debit Card (Mastercard) help me to get my credit score started?

And how do i have to pay? Is it by Monthly payments?

Will they take money from my bank account?|||PayPal's debit card spends money from your PayPal online balance, and if more money is needed to make a purchase it will come from your regular bank account. It is important to remember that it is like writing a check, all the money is taken at once. It will not contribute to your credit score because there is no borrowing and there is no monthly payment.

However, PayPal's other card is a real credit card. Its intent is to serve as a backup funding source when you use PayPal to buy something, but you can use it elsewhere too. Every purchase you make is borrowed from the card's credit line (not from the PayPal balance), and you pay it back by writing a check for all or some of what you owe every month. Using and repaying this card will contribute to your credit score.|||I doubt it will help you with your credit since it's money you actually have. Unless you are using it to pay bills. But that's completely unrelated to the card itself.

And yes, they will pull money out of your bank account when your paypal doesn't have enough in it to cover whatever you spend.

See for more info:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cm鈥?/a>

My advice is to stay away from the paypal debit card unless you've got a lot of money in your paypal. Most times it's better to transfer the money to your bank account since paypal has been known to limit/cut off paypal accounts with a good amount of money in them.|||No, the card will not help build credit. I have one. It is just associated with your PayPal balance, you can set it up so if you spend money, it could take it from your bank. But it will NOT help you build credit.

Can I sue my visa debit card online to pay for money order?

Would like to send a friend of mine in hongkong a money order or cheque so that he can encash in his country. Is this possible in Westrn Union? Can I use my debit card to buy it online and have it sent?|||If Western Union has offices in that country. you can send a money order through them. Yes, Western Union will accept a debit card or a credit card.

Why don't you just phone Western Union? They have a toll-free phone number. Look them up in the phone book. They can answer all you questions and give you all the details you need to know. They can probably even help you work out the currency exchange rate.

P.S. You should proof read your question before you send it in. I know, after reading your explanation, that you wanted to ask, "Can I use my Visa Debit Card.....," But your question reads, "Can I sue....."|||No, you can't "sue" your debit card online. I don't think you can use your debit card online either.|||I wish everyone would quiting yelling "sue" all of the time.

When will Gamefly officially take money from my debit card?

If I have a debit card with $30 on it, and I start my free trial, when will any money officially be taken from my debit card?|||Until you register to have a membership requiring payment, you won't get money taken from your card.

Will my debit card work when purchasing an item that my available balance won't cover but full balance does?

I made a deposit where the full amount isn't readily available. If I spend over my current available balance will the rest of my deposit kick-in and cover it or will my debit card just get declined? Or will it go through but still hit me with an overdraft fee even though my deposit covers the cost of the purchase?|||I think you need to call them in ask. Most of the time when you deposit a check, it will be in their system so you have money in there already, it's just not available yet, so therefore your card won't be decline but banks are different so you should just call and ask.

Good luck!!:)|||Depends on your banks policy. Could be any of the above.|||Call them and ask.

When the FAFSA or pell grant thing send you money with the debit card can you buy anything with it?

They told me they were going to send me a debit card, but I already have my books. Can I use this money to buy lets say a labtop or possibly :) a guitar?|||Yea, they send me my money and I get whatever I want|||You can buy anything you want. Overage payments are yours to spend as you see fit. That being said, if your scholarship stipulates that the funds be spent on school related expenses, it is in your best interest to do so. This means that you can buy the laptop, but not the guitar (unless you are taking music classes). In any case, it is in your best interest to save the money until the end of the semester, and treat it as an emergency fund. Then, once you receive your aid for next semester, you can spend leftovers from this semester, without finding yourself sans income at the end of the term.

Do I need a credit card or is a debit card enough to pay my application fee for grad school online?

I am an international student paying with a debit card from my own country. It worked just fine when I paid for the GRE with it, also online. Could there be any problems? Thanks!|||Depends on the school you are dealing with..|||Debit card is money. Credit is as good as money if the tranaction is authorized.|||credit card is unforseen money that u can use, but it will charge u interest for borowing money. debit card is u put money in the card first then only pay. debit card is much better than credit card. credit card charge u interests !!

How do you find out exactly what purchases were made on your debit card?

From Oct. 31 to Nov. 3 nearly 281.45 was spent at the AAFES store on my debit/credit card account. Is there any way that I can find out EXACTLY what purchases were made? Such as...will the store provide a copy of the reciepts if I request it?|||Hello,

You should contact the store and ask if they can provide you with receipts for purchases during this time period.

If the purchases were not made by you, but money has been taken from your card to fund purchases; then you should get on to your account provider and explain the situation (as your card may have been cloned or details stolen).

Thanks|||A debit card is nice and handy. But unlike a credit card there is no one to call in the middle of the night or weekends if something i swrong and you need ot cancel it or you need cash and the machine 500 miles from will not accept it.

The other thing is that most gas pumps will take your card and dispense gas with out a pin number if they have every used it before as they keep they the pin number in their computer. most convience stores do the same so it's too easy if you lose the card or some one in the store wants to rip you off.

It's best to keep the receipt evey time and record it yourself.YOU need ot copy the reciept or write down the information as the information on most cash register receiptss(and all of those from convience stores) usually fades away in a short time.

If you know the date your bank should have a record of the purchase check number the store sent them and you should than get the store to give you a receipt showing the purchases. but most will refuse or come up with some lame excuse.|||The store will not give you receipts for the purchases, but they should be able to provide you with a detailed statement of what was purchased.

What happens if you choose "credit" in a store with a debit card?

So I have literally no money in my checking account today, but I'm getting some tomorrow. I'm trying to find ways to spend money today that won't go through until tomorrow. I was thinking about writing a check, but found out basically nowhere takes checks. Then I read online that if you select the "Credit" option in a store, it will take 2-3 days for the money to leave my account, even though my card isn't a credit card, purely debit. Is this true?|||It depends on the terms of the bank you have your account with as to when the charge will post to your account. While it may not post for 2-3 days, in most cases, there will be a hold placed on your account for either a few dollars, or up to the entire purchase amount. This depends on the merchant. If you have your account set up to allow you to go over your limit, you will be hit with overdraft fees regardless if you choose debit or credit if the transaction posts before you have enough money in your account.

You say you get money tomorrow, why not just wait a day and avoid the hassle of worrying if the transaction will/will not post?|||With debit cards that have the Visa/Mastercard logo on them, you can select "credit" when swiping the card. When you do this, visa (using an algorithm of account history and balances) decides whether or not to guarantee the funds for the merchant. It can often take up to 3 days to process from Visa/Mastercard to your bank. It isn't something that I recommend. If you can't wait to make your purchase, you could get a payday loan for a few days to cover it and not pay the overdraft fee. If handled responsibly payday loans can be useful forms of credit. Depending on where you live you can get a payday loan for 2 weeks on a 100.00 for 17.00, sometimes less. If you pay it off in a few days it will cost less than that. But due to the increased costs for carrying the loan for longer that 2 weeks, if you can't pay it off in 2 weeks, DON'T get one. CheckCity.com is a solid lender with low rates|||that is completely false. The only difference is if you sign or enter a PIN.

It is true that some companies take a few days to process credit transactions but there aren't very many. Unless you have the money in your account or you are prepared to pay the overdraft fee and/or be declined then don't try it.|||Don't count on it.

With VISA logo, the charge can go through as a credit.

As for how long it takes to post, there's no guarantee that it's delayed at all.

How long does it take to get money put back on my debit card?

Today I returned a $50 tool to Lowes around 3pm.

They put it back on debit card.

Do you know how long it will take to get it actually deposited in my account?

I really need the money for tomorrow!!

(My bank is the one in the Wal-Marts)

Help, does anyone know?|||I dont think you'll get it until like friday

Is there any problem in life with having a debit card only, not a credit card?

I am 20 years old, and am happy with my debit card.

Is there a reason i should get a credit card ever?|||I am twice your age and have NEVER had one....I figure if I can't afford it now, then I probably don't need it.....so I have no use for a credit card! To many people get in debt because they charge, charge charge....then can't make the payments! Good Luck! Is GREAT TO BE DEBT FREE!|||The advantage that credit cards have over debit cards is that if you question a charge, you can dispute it with your credit card company. If you use a debit card, the money comes out of your account immediately.

I use my debit card for most purchases like groceries, dry cleaning, etc. For product purchases or travel, though, I use a credit card and pay off the balance each month. That's key. I say you need one of each. Just understand how to use each of them responsibly.|||nope, if you dont feel like paying 20% interest on all of your purchases then don't get one. some would argue that having one just incase of emergency might be a good idea but that only works if you don't use it at all unless you are on the side of the road with your car dead and you dont have enough money for a tow truck or something of that magnitude.|||Yes, there are certain transactions where you often need a credit card. Rental car agencies usually demand a credit card and refuse a debit card -- and even if you can find one to take debit, they'll put some ridiculous hold on the card. Also you might have problems with hotels, and gas stations sometimes put a hold on the debt if $50 or so (hold lasts maybe a week).

But you also want to establish credit for your credit history. Lenders are not interested in someone with zero debt ... they want someone who has proved they can manage debt. There is a difference.

Someday you'll need credit to buy a house or car or pay for medical bills or something. If you have no credit history, then at the time you need a loan is too late to start. Starting your credit history as early as possible is good -- as long as you can responsibly manage debt|||I would not get a credit card unless you have to. The only good thing about credit cards is it can help to build your credit, but they can get you in trouble if u dont monitor your spending and the really high interest rates creditors can charge you. I have an american express gold card that has 0% interest, but the balance has to be paid in full at the end of each month. So thats a good option that will save you money, and build your credit at the same time!|||That depends, it can be difficult to do certain things without a credit card (such as rent a car) and you do not have the safety net if you have to dispute a transaction.

Credit cards are not evil, it just requires using them responsibly. Chances are you will need credit for major purchases such as a car or a house. Having a "thin" file (that means not much credit history) can get you denied credit or increase your interest rate by quite a bit.|||The reality is that you need to establish a credit history - bank accounts, apartment rentals, employment checks, all of these look at it noewadays. Someday you may want a mortgage loan. With no credit history, you won't get one.|||The only reason I can think of to have a credit card, is to build credit. I assume someday you will want to buy a car or house and very possibly not have the whole amount of the purchase up front in which case you will need a good credit score to not get ripped off.

Oh so many years ago when I first needed a credit card, I went to Target, opened an account, (easier to get than MC or VISA with no credit) bought a DVD player (expensive back then). I kept it in the box, waited a month or so and then went and returned it. There is no difference on your credit report for paid in full with cash or by returning merchandise. I did that kind of thing a few times and eventually started building my credit.

Just be smart with your credit card if you do decide to get one.|||i did i found trouble paying for things online ,like car hire abroad ,so i use a credit card but i pay it off straight away so not to incur any intrest.you will find out for yourself as you pay for things wiether or not you need one,|||In many ways you are better off than those who use their credit cards and don't pay the bill off at the end of the month. Your costs for services are usually lower. SO keep your money and plan for your retirement. Buy only what you can afford and get used cars and not new etc. pay off mortgage early and keep investing in good things that pay you rather than speculating on it going up more (being paid is better).

Good thing you're being grounded, maybe a great future ahead.|||I'm going to be 28 yrs old and I have been doing perfectly fine without a credit card. i have everything you can think of as in graduated from college (all my loans paid in cash from working by the time I graduated) house, car etc. and I never needed a credit card so if you want to stay debt free and don't want to claim bankruptcy in the future stay away from credit cards...as long as you pay all your bills on time you will be perfectly fine...

What happens with your Xbox Live when the debit card expires, does it stack up payments?

I have xbox live and the debit card i was using to pay for it has expired and my live has continued, i recieve e-mails letting me know that the card has expired each month warning me that my live will be cancelled however it hasnt, its been like this for about 6 months now. I was wondering do the payments stack up or is it a technical glitch? And yes I do have another payment method saved, would it use that instead?|||No it just lets you know via email that your debit expired, and then it cancels you live membership. Then it asks for new debit card. It used to stack payments, and if you didn't pay, they banned your account

Why would a bank insist I use the credit option when using a debit card?

So I just read about a program where chase will give you a small bonus for using your debit card to buy subway fare. However, they insist you use the credit option instead of the debit option when paying at a metrocard machine. As far as I know, I would be billed the same way (the money is deducted from my checking account) so what is the advantage to the bank here?|||Some times when you use your debit card as a debit card for things other than using an ATM machine your bank will charge you a fee (like they sometimes do if you use an ATM machine that does not belong to your bank). It comes out the same in the end though, just without the interest being charged to you or the fees.|||I think that it has to do with the fees generated by the bank machine. All credit and debit transactions require a fee from the vendor, banks probably get a bigger cut for credit than they do debit. Which is why some stores charge a fee if you are using a debit/credit card. Costs them more out of pocket.

How Do You Change Your Photo on a Debit Card from Bank of America?

Hi, i have a debit card for bank of america, i was wondering how i would go about changing my current photo to a new one, or just removing the photo all together?|||They should be able to handle this at your local branch - you will have to go in person.|||the photo is needed for identification, so you don't have to bring out a valid id everytime you use the card. i wanted my photo changed too and was told to just go there and will have another one taken and i think they'll change the card altogether.|||just go to the bank and ask to have a new card made, you may have to pay some money, but they should understand|||YOU HAVE TO GO INTO A BANKING CENTER AND ASK THEM TO TAKE A NEW PHOTO

How to get cash from a debit card?

Today I'm going bungee jumping and they don't accept debit cards. So can I go into a store and tell them I want $10 and give them my card and they'll take $10 outta my account and give me the paper dollar?|||ATM, dude.|||Assuming you're talking about a real debit card, the kind that's attached to your checking account, just go to the ATM and make a withdrawal. Or go to the bank and withdraw your funds there.

If you mean you've got a prepaid debit card, then check the documentation that came with it and see whether you can use it at an ATM.|||Any cash machine? How do you have a debit card and not know this? Makes me wonder if the card belongs to you.

I got a prepaid debit card from AT&T through a rebate program. Can I withdrawal from an ATM with this card?

I have never used a prepaid debit card. I would rather just withdrawal the money and put in my bank account. Am I able to do that with this card?|||That will depend on the terms A T %26amp; T has on the card. Since it was a reward benefit, it may be similar to a Gift Card which are not usually redemable for cash. The stipulation should be printed on the card or were sent to you with the card.

Has anyone ever disputed a charge on a debit card, or charged someone with unauthorized use?

Has anyone ever disputed a charge on a debit card, or charged someone with unauthorized use? If so, what is the process like?

I have notified my ex, and the manager of the company in question as the bank recommended, "that any future charges or charges will be considered unauthorized use, and may result in criminal charges" as the woman at the bank suggested. But I have never had to do this before, and wonder what, if anything else needs to be done.|||Yes, I did.

Someone tried to do an automatic debit on my account without my authorization.

I had to sign an affidavit that I didn't allow this and they did an investigation and put the money back into my account.

How long does it take to refund a debit card for a canceled transaction?

I was charged the incorrect amount on my prepaid debit two days ago. How long till the money is replaced on my card?|||48hours is a long time, but depends on your system. In Canada we use Interac which offers instant refunds. You should visit the store, or call the bank to see if the transaction has been processed or not.

How long does it take for a refund to be be transferred back to a debit card?

A refund was placed on my debit card yesterday about 1pm, and still has not appeared in my bank account. How long does it usually take?|||it can take up to 5 days but if you ring your bank they can usualy sort it quickly by doing a force refund:-)|||3 to 5 business days. Sorrily, the merchant takes a lot of time to give you your money back, and only seconds to take it. What's wrong with this system?

Fastest and cheapest way to transfer money from debit card to overseas bank account?

my mom is in new zealand and im in sri lanka. i have a bank account in sri lanka. she wants to send money to my bank account, the fastest and cheapest way from her bank account.

what do u suggest is the best way?

is there any free online service that will allow immediate transfer of funds from her debit card to my acocunt?

i need it no later than 2 days after she sends it from there.

dont say paypal cos they cannot be linked to sri lankan banks.|||If you need the money fast wiring it is the way to go. However this will incur fees at least for receiving the funds. If you can accept some delay a method similar to ACH may work.|||western union!!!

How Do You Delete Your Credit/Debit Card Information From An iPod Touch?

My friend has an iPod Touch and she wanted to delete her old debit card from her account and use an iTunes card to buy some stuff. Her computer is broken, so how does she go about doing this via her iPod Touch?|||The only way is to connect it to the computer, but since she's using an itunes card, she can just go to itunes store and go to the bottom and tap on redeem and put in the code. Whatever she buys from itunes or the app store on the touch will be bought with the credit until it runs out and not the debit card.|||Ok, so you will have to open up iTunes on the computer, on the iTunes store, there will be a bar of links on the right side of your screen then you will see a link called account, click on it and then put in your password if required, then go to edit payment options, then where you select what payment you want to use like visa or master card, etc, you select none, and then from there you card will no longer be charged.

Can I run my debit card as a credit card?

I just received my debit card from the Golden1 Credit Union. I just programmed my PIN number, and they said it would take about 24 hours for it to work. But I am going out of town tomorrow morning. I was wondering if I could just run the card as credit instead. Will it work?|||With a Visa logo, it can be run as a credit card. But the card might very well work by tomorrow morning anyway. The banks like to give themselves more time, in case it doesn't work.|||Unless there is some reason why it shouldn't (which I honestly can't think), it should work.|||You can do that if it has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it, yes.|||Yes

Is it possible to use a debit card on the Playstation Network Online store?

Hi, I was just wondering if it's possible because I ain't got a credit card but I have an RBC debit card, is it possible to use it on the playtstion store, if so, how?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer me :)|||Any card that bears a VISA, MasterCard, or American Express logo can be used in the Playstation Store.|||Yes|||Yea. Just go to buy whatever you want and follow whatever it says and type in whatever it says. It's very simple.|||Yea you can use a debit or a credit

Why would a bank insist I use the credit option when using a debit card?

So I just read about a program where chase will give you a small bonus for using your debit card to buy subway fare. However, they insist you use the credit option instead of the debit option when paying at a metrocard machine. As far as I know, I would be billed the same way (the money is deducted from my checking account) so what is the advantage to the bank here?|||As far as your bank account is concerned, it doesn't matter - both methods will correctly withdraw the appropriate amount.

However, businesses that accept credit cards must pay a small fee for every single transaction to the credit card company and/or bank (typically a percent or two of the purchase price). Historically this made sense, as any business that accepted Visa or Mastercard could increase their sales just by accepting credit cards. However, now that debit cards are widely accepted, the credit card banks are seeing their fees drop. So - they are doing what ever they can do to get more transactions cranking through their logo - thus increasing their fees.

So, the bottom line: The credit option makes more money for the bank. But it's a bit worse for the business, especially if it's a little one.|||The fee that your bank pays to the Transit Authority's bank is less.

Someone stole my debit card and used it to fill up their prepaid phone card on T Mobile. Can I trace it back?

They stole my debit card and used it to steal $360 worth of items. I noticed that something called T Mobile Vesta came up on my bank of america transactions. I want to find out if this criminal was someone I knew or what!|||Call your bank and freeze the card. You're normally protected against fraud purchases in cases like these. The bank should be able to trace when or who made the purchases based on transaction details.|||As suggested, cancel the card immediately. If you want to feel double safe you can put it on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus. It has to be renewed every 90 days in order to keep it active. You can also run your free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free @ 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports|||Report the stolen card to your bank. They will investigate and return your funds. Once you have your money back, you probably won't learn anything more.

The bank will probably just backcharge the merchants and the merchants will have to decide whether to pursue the thief.|||Yes, call your bank ASAP!

If I update my billing address on a debit card, will my automatic payments be affected?

How much does it cost to withdraw from an ATM in Shanghai using an Australian Debit card?

I have a Commonwealth bank Mastercard Debit card, and i need to withdraw money from my savings. My savings are in AUD, and i would like to withdraw in RMB. Does anyone know how much it will cost, what fees i would be looking at paying?|||ATM fees vary from zero to US$10 per transaction. Be aware that some Chinese ATMs only allow withdrawals of 1,000 yuan per transaction, so withdrawing 2,500 yuan would require 3 transactions and 3 sets of fees.

Some Chinese banks have alliances with foreign banks and offer preferential services to those customers. You really need to contact your Australian bank and ask. It's best to use a Chinese bank that is allied with your home bank.

I love buying goodies, but hate getting the bill. Everything I like is either too expensive or fattening!|||The major banks in China will allow you to use your card. I don;t know about your bank specifically, but for mine, it is bets to move money online or by phone from savings into chequing before withdrawing to avoid higher fees. Outside of that, using an ATM is faster and gives a better exchange rate than taking cash and going to exchange it at the bank or hotel.|||the exchange rate varies every minute and there is a fee charged by your card issuer(not charged by the banks in China), the fee can be deducted when the money is withdrawn

My debit card number has changed as i am getting an online refund? will i get it?

So i was just going to go to Wal-Mart and buy a pre-paid debit card.

What i need is exactly $25, can anyone tell me how much pre-paid cards are usually worth,

[or anything about them really, i've never bought one]

Thanks!|||They are worth exactly what you put on them. There aren't set amounts. They have various fees that you need to consider, including transaction and monthly fees on some. Read the fine print before you buy.

Can I go online shopping with my debit card?

But the thing is I work at a place where we get paid on a debit card.

Your money automatically goes to the card that we're given when we

first start. So can I still use that card to do some online shopping?|||does the debit card ahve a logo on it like visa or am exp? if so it should work just the samea s a credit card and you will be able to use it for online purchases.

one thing to consider thoe is when using a debit card online is that the money comes directly from your account. if there is any problems the bank will probally not stick up for you that much. if you are using a regular credit card, the credit card company will definately help you in settling any disputes you might have. ( because its their money)

one thing you can do is deposit the money into an account and see if your bank can issue you a credit card for online use.|||The important thing is to visit their website frequently to check your balance to make sure it's the exact amount you expect it to be, and keep track of your transactions to make sure they agree with that amount. If you do that, it's ok to use it at a lot of websites. But you have to be careful, because some websites are scams. It's often better to use Paypal. You can use your debit card with Paypal. But Paypal might insist that you have a checking account too. I'm not sure, because their policies keep changing.|||well as long as your card has a visa logo on it your good. i shop all the time online with my chase card. also just a tip if you really want to save money go to all your favorite stores websites and sign up and they give you coupons for free shipping and handling!! its awesome... well if ur a shopaholic like me!! i hope this helps!|||Check out http://www.myshoppinggenie.com/cheapstuff this should be exactly what you are looking for! it is a FREE application you can download for your browser and it basically searches the WHOLE internet for the cheapest price for the product you are looking to buy|||You can shop with the Card. But advisable is viewing in website and getting coupons and making purchase.|||As long as your card has the visa logo, which you say it does and Visa Debit is an accepted form of payment, The yes you should be able to shop online with the card

What happens if I use my debit card as a credit card?

Hey my name is Kandi and I'm 18 :-) I just received my debit card through the mail. After I activated if I forgot my pin number. I have been using it as credit does it really matter?|||No it doesn't matter if you use it as credit or debit. They both deduct your checking account. Just don't overdraw your account, otherwise you will be charged a fee. You should talk to your banker about your lost pin and reactive a new one.|||The primary difference between debit and credit is in the way that the transactions are processed. When you run your bank card as a debit card, you will be asked to enter a personal identity number (PIN), and the funds are removed from your account instantly. When you select a credit option, the transaction is verified with your signature, and the funds may not be removed from your account right away, depending on how the store processes its credit card transactions. Many do what is known as “batching,” meaning that all of the credit transactions are run in a batch, typically at the end of the day, and it may take several days for your credit transaction to clear.|||There are some businesses (Walgreens and Family Dollar, for example) that will force you to use a PIN with your debit card. Reason? PIN-based transaction costs are lower than signature-based transactions.

So, yeah, you'll have to clear up the forgotten PIN issue eventually. Incidentally, the "instant" method for distinguishing between a credit card and a debit card: A debit card has the hologram on the front while a credit card has the hologram on the back.|||The money comes out of the same place, so it doesn't really matter. If you run it as debit you type in your pin so you don't have to show ID or sign a slip.

And, so you know, you can request your pin from your bank.|||It doesn't matter, but it usually takes the funds a little longer to come outta your account.|||No technicaly it is a credit card as long as your not overdrawn you will be ok ^_^|||Brace your self for huge transaction fees.|||no just don't forget how much you have left to spend or you will be overdrawn and have to pay overdrawn fees!!|||no problem. just be prepared to pay the bill off when it comes due.|||it wouldnt work, or would it

Can I use my ATM savings account card as a debit card at stores?

I have an ATM card linked to my savings account, am I able to use the ATM card as a debit card? |||atm cards are solely for atm withdrawals and deposits only. only a checking account has a debit card which can be used for purchases as well as atm transactions.

the reason why atm cards shouldn't be used for point of sales transactions is because it is linked to a savings, which is an interest bearing account. And as federal policy, interest bearing account have limited transactions per statement cycle.

If you try to use the card, it might be blocked by your bank's fraud dept or it might go through, but then because acct is limited to certain transactions like funds transfer or point of sales, you can be assessed of excess activity charges or account can be possibly closed if it continuously exceeds the bank's transaction limits.|||In the US, you could potentially use your ATM card in a store as long as they actually take “debits.” Grocery stores for example take both debit cards and credit cards. Retail stores, restaurants, those places typically don’t. If you use your basic ATM card you use it with PIN access. It is called a Point of Sale or POS charge. That’s the card side.

Most banks however, restrict POS from savings so if you have it only to a savings it may not work. More importantly, there is usually a daily POS limit significantly lower than a debit/check card. Usually $300-$500 regardless of your balance. Lastly, they can charge you a POS fee of approximately 0.30 per transaction. So, overall, even if you can do it, it is just not such a good idea.

|||In my country, ATM cards with the logo "BankCard" can be used as a debit card. If it's inconvenient to go to your bank, then go to one of the retailers, show the cashier your ATM card and ask him if your card is a debit card or not.|||Yes it should since it has a pulse logo. However, in the U.S. it is limited to 4 withdraws per month for savings. The store must take pulse logo. Your bank may or may not charge you a fee for this transaction.

Here is more information about credit %26amp; debit cards|||It most likely depends on if the card has a Visa, Mastercard, or some other logo on it. If it does, then you can pretty much use it anywhere. If not, you might only be able to use it to withdraw cash from an ATM.|||nope! it wont work. Try getting to your bank and open a checking acount and ask for a debit card. It will usually take up to a week. |||NO, you can't use ANY ATM card as a debit card. Do I have too use a credit card or can I just use a debit card where is says credit card number?I have a mastercard debit card.|||Yes you can.|||Yes you can but you may not want to. I need serious answers, no stupid answers saying I'm stupid because I don't know what I'm doing.|||A debit card can be used online, but the chances of a retailer accepting debit cards online are less than accepting credit cards.

Anyway, yes, you use the entire 16 digit number. Just be careful when you type in the number so that it is correct. Sites also tend to ask for the expiration date.

Um, and to get you prepared for when you are thinking of applying for a credit card, Visa is a type of credit card.

Online retailers don't automatically believe that a number is fraudulent because it was entered incorrectly. People make a mistake by keying in numbers all the time. So, if a site accepts debit cards, just follow the instructions and how the site is set up, and you'll be fine.|||yeah i think you do

Whats the minimum i can spend on my debit card?

I have a BMO student Debit card.Im wondering what is the least amount of money i can spend in a store?|||Due to the fees, many stores are now requiring a minimum purchase. I have seen it anywheres from $3.00 to $10.00

Also, don't forget that you will be charged a service fee from your bank every time you use the debit card. You are better off to just use it at an ATM and draw cash and pay for small items with that cash. It is far better to pay one .50 cent fee then a whole bunch.

Hope this helps answer your question.|||Depends on teh store. Some stores, there are no minimums, others have a $5 or $10 minimum.|||pay cash if more people would do this ,it would force the banks to keep their rates low and less people going bankrupt|||You should be able to charge only $0.01 if you want to your card. Now, I don't know if the store would accept this transaction because they are charged a fee (usually $0.30 + 2.8% of the transaction) to even accept the charge.|||It depends on the store, some have minimums while others don't. Even though they are not supposed to have a minimum set. And I don't know where these other people get their information and I suppose that banks are different. But I use my debit card all the time, I never have cash, my bank does not charge me any fees for using it. The money comes out of my account just as if I had used it at an ATM or if I had used cash at the store. If you bank is charging you fees to use your debit card then I would suggest seeing what other accounts are available and possible changing banks. This is not hurting the economy in any way a debit card is not a credit card and doesn't have anything to do with charging purchases.

Can i set up a PayPal account with a debit card?

I am getting a debit card pretty soon, and i want to be able to have a PayPal account for when i buy stuff online. Can i set up an account, and use it with my debit card? Will eBay ship to a different address than the billing address of my debit card in Paypal?

Its imperative that the items that I buy off eBay will got to my alternative address, rather than my home/billing address. The debit card that I've entered into my PayPal account is different to the address of where I am currently living. Will eBay/Paypal direct my purchased items to my billing address or my alternate one?

Thanks!|||eBay does not ship anything. eBay is a community of different sellers with their own different rules and policies of shipping.

Anyway, when you make a payment, you will have an option to specify your shipping address within your payment. Just make sure you specified the one you need.

Many sellers (especially PowerSellers) allow to ship to non-billing address.

If not sure, you have to contact that particular seller and ask about it.|||You can change postal address when you go through checkout. I change it when I've bought something as a present and I don't want to pay double postage.

Go to My eBay.

Click the "Addresses" link on the left side of the page.(in Account)

Click the "View all postage addresses" link.

Add the other address and click "make primary"

You can add link to Paypal - just follow the directions

You can always change it back later|||Um they usually ship through the address on eBay. But maybe you should change the address on the debit card then through PayPal?

What is your address on paypal as well?

I verified and confirmed it so I have $1.95 in my paypal funds and the rest still in the card, but it won't let me send money. It also won't let me add funds to my paypal account using the card. Visa gift cards do not work with PayPal.

How do I check how much money I have on my debit card?

I have a Debit Visa Card from State Civil Service Employees Federal Credit Union and I had 145$ on it and spent at least 80$ but I want to double check how much money is in my account.|||There's a few options:

1) Call the number on the back of the card - pretty much all banks and credit unions now have a toll-free automated phone service that will allow you to obtain your balance by entering your account number and PIN on the phone keypad.

2) Call your credit union. They will want your account number and some other identity verification info like the last 4 digits of your Social Security number and/or your birthdate. Once that matches up, the person will tell you your current balance.

3) Go to an ATM - insert your card and select the 'Check Balance' option and it'll spit out a slip of paper with your balance information.

If i had 拢100 in my paypal account, could i go into a store and pay with my debit card, withdrawing money from the paypal account?

Can I use a debit card to take money out of my savings?

I know that you can use a debit card to take money out of your checking account. However, can a debit card also be used to take money out of your savings?|||Yes, I can choose which account to withdrawl money from when I go to an ATM. In fact I have three different accounts in which I can take money from. But I guess perhaps it depends on the bank. But I'm sure if you go to the bank and ask them to make your savings account accessible, they can do that. But if you're talking about going to the store and choosing which account to take it from there, then no, that is only available at an ATM.|||Typically no. When you use your debit card there is no prompt for which account you'd like to withdraw the funds from...if you want to use savings money, you'd first need to xfer it into your checking acct, then debit it out as needed from there.

Is it Ok for a cashier to write down front debit card number on receipt?

Today i was at the mall, Body Central/ Clothing department store, and i checked out with a debit card.

She swiped it on her computer and i entered my pin on a separate pad, she then wrote my front card number on top of the receipt? (her copy)

Why is that, should i be worried? Why does she need the front number of the card?

I've never seen any other stores do this, even though their checkouts look very "old".|||New credit card processors will store your whole card number electronically and print only the last four or six of your whole sixteen digit number on your receipt. It would make me uncomfortable to have an employee hand write the whole number down too. You would just watch your card activity carefully for the next two months and if something comes up that you didn't do then you will know who to blame and get fired.|||In the old days, credit cards were imprinted on carbon copies and manually submitted to the credit card companies. It is uncommon now, but I wouldn't worry. Perhaps the receipt only prints out some of the account numbers and the store's policy is to write down the full account number to reconcile the credit card receipts against the point of sale system at the end of each day. I would worry if she wrote down the pin number or the security code on the back of the card. Keep an eye on your debit card activity just in case. If it makes you uncomfortable, you might want to call the store's corporate office and let them know your feelings.|||as long as it wasnt a credit card and you covered your pin then you are fine.

check your receipt if it has your bank number then you should be concerned. if not, dont fret.

Phone the company which issued your card (which bank or lender) and talk to a human being to find out the information you need. It does not sound as if an automated menu is going to help you.|||Usually you can call the number on the back of your card %26amp; the options will state an option for activating your card or to speak to an operator who can either do it for you or give you the information for it.

Is there a difference between putting your money in a bank account versus a debit card?

I'm 18 and got my first job and was wondering if there is a difference between having a bank account versus a debit card. I have neither so that's why I'm asking.|||A debit card is linked to your bank account. If you use a debit card it automatically takes money out of your account. You can't put money on a debit card. You have to deposit money into a bank account.|||If you have $1000 you can put it in your bank account.

You would then have a balance of $1000.

A debit card (given by your bank) could then be used to purchase up to $1000 worth of whatever you need.

A debit card is used like a credit card but rather than the bank giving you a line of credit the merchant (store) you are purchasing from debits the money directly from your bank account.

There are prepaid debit cards you can get without a bank account. These charge fees based on how much money you are putting on the card.

A proper bank used to charge no fees for use of a debit card but more and more banks are doing so. Check closely with your local bank or with any prepaid debit card provider to read their terms, fees, and so forth.|||Truly...(no funning here ... seriously) I know with all the fear out there about Banks... go with a Bank.... but make SURE you don't over draw on a checking account cause the banks rake you over the coals %26amp; they have your money already... so you end up owing them( and it ruins your credit) as opposed to a debit card... I got one of those pre paid debit cards( a green pak money card) put 100 dollars on it %26amp; I didn't use it ... they charged me 6.95 a month %26amp; it cost me 20 dollars just to get it %26amp; every time I put money on it they charged me... at the last when I used it ... 3 months ago... I still had 10 bucks on it , but the 3 months went by %26amp; they told me I owed them 12 (something) for their monthly fee so I learned my lesson... lucky I kept my Checking account, cause I had a free checking account( as LONG as you DON'T over draft) payed 0 dollars for the year... but be WISE( this is what my Mother taught me LONG ago) Keep 100 dollars in your account at all times ... consider it as a safety net %26amp; DO NOT EVER go below 100 dollars on your account and then that way YOU KNOW you won't over draft %26amp; get hit with all their fees %26amp; penalties and when you ESTABLISH that , it builds your credit rating that you are responsible with your money... AND check OFTEN at your bank to make sure you have money IN your account Before you write a check, so it WON'T bounce and I know that the age we live in with ATMs getting a check card with your checking account , when you use that at ATMs that are not in your banks network there are fees ( usally anywhere from 2 dollars down to 25 cents per Transaction at any ATM)... so to avoid those kind of fees , I just do not have a card, cause they are so easy to use %26amp; then the next thing you know you are over drawn ... thats how banks make their money encourging you to overdraw because they are so easy to use ... Hope this helps... rember... be WISE in that just ONE bounced check can RUIN your credit for 7 YEARS|||you put your money into a bank account, the debit card is for using the money in your bank account|||You get a debit account when you get a checking account. How does a Brit obtain a French Carte Bleue debit card for short visits to France?

A British friend used his UK credit card in a French call-box and was charged £20 for three mins to UK. A French friend says Carte Bleue costs nothing like that much, and C.B. is a debit card easy to get by paying up front. Is that correct?|||The pure Carte Bleue is a weird animal to most non-French nationals, unlike Visa or Mastercard it allows transactions without requiring authorization from the cardholder's bank. In many situations, the card works like a credit card but without fees for the cardholder. Saying that the system was integrated into the wider CB or Carte bancaire ("banking card"), thus all Carte Bleue cards are part of CB, but not all CB cards are Carte Bleue.

The system is national, and pure Carte Bleue cards do not operate outside of France. However, it is possible and commonplace to get Carte Bleue VISA or Mastercard card that operates outside of France. Carte Bleue, properly said, was the local affiliate of VISA (All Visa card in France are also Carte Bleue). Today, all cards also double with the electronic cash system mon€o.

As from 9th February this year - Visa Europe and SAS Carte Bleue have merged their operations here and created Visa France. From said date the Carte Bleue card has become an integral part of our bank account, with only those with a bank account here having access to the same.

The solution to your problem is the “Carte Cadeau”, a pre-paid “Carte Bleue” that works exactly the same as a normal but once emptied is worthless and a new one has to be purchased. To purchase the same, you walk into any bank ask for a “Carte Cadeau”, handover the amount of Euros you require on the “Carte” and the card is issued – they do not want any personal details from you.

We are very surprised that our good friend “Travel Agent Dina” did not point you in this direction|||Bonjour CAM,

This is not a good idea to call with a CC and especially with a foreign CC. When u use a CC in a call-box, they charge 15Euros minimum on a French CC even if you stay 3 minutes or 5mns. The best is to buy this prepaid card for 7,5Euros in "bureau de tabac or presse" and u can call UK for at least 45mns and maybe more.

To get a debit card, yes this is possible but the bank may ask u for lotta documents as in France, we love papers...

Good luck

What happends if you have 11 cents left on your debit card?

Okay i have $10.11 cents left on my debit card, and i wanna purchase something that costs 10 dollars will i get any penaltys for having 11 cents left on the card? i remember hearing that i should have atleast 10 dollars on the card|||if its a debit car linked to a checking account then i'd check with your bank. my bank if you fall below $100 there's a $35 fee for each transaction and a penalty for being below $100 which can put you into the negatives and oweing your bank money. Check With Your Bank.|||It depends on the type of account you are holding with your bank.

To avoid service charges, many banks place a threshold dollar amount, if you're above this threshold you won't be charged a service fee. However, when you fall under that threshold by the end of the month, you will charged the monthly fee.

Some banks don't have this, and some do. If you haven't noticed that you're being charged for keeping your balance at $10.11, then you're most likely not being charged as these thresholds are usually around $500-$1000.

Go on to their website and check to see what type of account you have and see all the fees that goes with it.|||most stores won't let you swipe it and use the 11 cents, and then pay the rest in cash. I think target lets you do that but not a lot of other places. I've lost balances like that on tons of cards because I couldn't find something under 50 cents that I needed to buy!|||You shouldn't, but I think it depends on your bank. Some banks make it so you have to have a minimal amount in your account at all times. But on one of my accounts I had like 68 cents in my account for over 6 months before I closed it and I never got penalized.|||no because you will get charged a service fee. which is at least $4. if your bank goes on the minus side it is not good for your credit history|||Not at all...Only if you don't use it for 30 days they will give you a warning..if you are using it regularly than no...But make sure you deposit some money soon :P

Now that Senate Democrats and a few good Republicans jerked the Debit Card Candy from the mouth's of the banks?

What new and clever ways will they find to screw us?

As a small business owner who deals with small transactions, our debit card fees are outrageous, sometimes as high as 5% of our gross.

Sorry Mr. Bankster, you will have to find the money for your daughter's Mercedes somewhere else.|||That decision just screwed most American consumers. Our debit cards will no longer be fee-free. Business may be happy, but the consumer just got royally screwed.|||Then find another credit card processing company. I have experience in this, and the fees vary greatly based on the company. Seems to me that this is more government intrusion where it does not belong. If you are too stupid to shop around for a processing company that charges less than 5%, then you should be forced to pay because you are stupid.|||"Sorry Mr. Bankster, you will have to find the money for your daughter's Mercedes somewhere else."

They will by passing on increased service fees to the customer... However, I do agree that those fees (not to mention the average $2.50 ATM fees) are excessive.|||Bankster. That's real clever. Sounds like gangster.|||The democraps are all hot air no substance.

Do you think "philosophy is p***-easy" is a stupid thing to say?

Ok, so yesterday this guy I know said "philosophy is piss-easy" in a really dismissive way. I usually respect his views and agree to differ with him on most things even though he exasperates me with his sweeping new-age beliefs and racial generalizations, but this comment about philosophy seriously irritated me. Am I justified in saying his comment is stupid, or is what he said perfectly fine?

These are the objections I laid out to him:

1. He is completely missing the point of philsophical enquiry. Saying philosophy is "easy" is really a lazy way of saying "when I read or hear about philosophy I generally have no problem understanding the concepts and debates." This is perfectly acceptable (although I should have tested his knowledge to show up his arrogance). But he is missing the point in claiming all philosophy itself is "easy" because most of the topics that the subject has engaged with over the millenia have never been "resolved". It's not like completing a video game or finishing a jigsaw puzzle. It's like saying "politics is easy". If it were then presumably we would have stopped having wars by now.

2. He reifies the concept of philosophy. In my view philosophy exists insofar as it is produced out of debate between a variety of perspectives. Read a book, and yes, you may easily understand the arguments and tick it off your list - but go off and discuss it with others and you will push against the limits of your own assumptions and understanding. Calling this dynamic interaction of perspectives and meanings "easy" makes no sense. It's as easy as a piece of string is long.

3. If he thinks the philosophy he has read is "piss-easy" then either he has paradigm-shifting mental abilities, or he has a rather superficial understanding of it. People who say things are easy all the time I imagine are often simply lead down the same routes of the mind, they encounter no mental resistance because they are not asking themselves probing questions, in their complacency they rarely examine their own assumptions, things are "easy" or "boring".

4. He implies he already has within him the knowledge he needs to understand philosophy, making him a sort of rationalist, thus positioning him somewhere philosophically. If he had to defend himself against criticisms of his position? This is as easy/difficult as the depth of the criticisms.

5. Which leads me to the next point, the "piss-easy" body of thousands of years of human thought, philosophy, actually provides us with the means to reflexively act back upon the very statements we make by offering doubts and criticisms against them, so we forever elude the certainty that make things "easy".

6. Philosophy engages with the most profound questions that we can ask. To call this "piss-easy" is to grossly overstate the capabilities of one human mind.

7. It's wrong to say "philosophy is piss-easy" until you have comprehensively exhausted every book and discussion on the topic and can make a balanced conclusion about its complexity in relation to your own abilities to comprehend it. And since the topic isn't finite anyway, this is impossible.

8. Sounds harsh, but I think his comment is a function of his own competitive, compensatory need to boost his self-esteem, when in actual fact he's bankrupt, unemployed, and a cuckold. I think Nietschze said somewhere that often beliefs of some philosophers are sublimations of other things, "an involuntary and unconscious auto-biography", and my friend might do good to consider this. On the other hand, maybe I should encourage him. Damn, I'm being harsh...

9. If philosophy is so "easy", why can't he apply its intellectual tools when it come to the obvious weaknessness in his own unquestioned new-age beliefs? Some of these: talking about matter/soul (dualism) then that everything is one, the "Dao" (monism). He used to be an scientist yet believes in blood-types corresponding to personality types which is just an unscientific money-spinner. When I point out these contradictions he says they are different ways of seeing things and he doesn't want to chose one. In my view, if we are talking about things of little relative consequence to our future, say interior decoration, then I have no problem with things like Feng Shui. But once into the world of science and politics his view is a cop-out as if we have two competing claims about the same thing (obviously if two different claims refer to different things they may co-exist) then it makes sense to test both and then preference one, for more is at stake. (Or am I wrong in saying that "truth matters"?)

Are these valid objections, or have I got a bee in my bonnet? After all, it doesn't really matter what he thinks about philosophy, the proof is in|||Yes, your objections have some validity, but that is from your own perspective and those who share it. What you appear to be hung up on is that absorbing all the material surrounding the academic study is difficult, and that many philosophical questions are unanswerable, but the point you are missing is that philosophizing is easy. We all do it naturally. Philosophy, at its heart, is really nothing more than opinion. Some opinions are learned and wise and others are not. Your friend is apparently unconcerned with academic philosophy and is more concerned with the popular form of it, which indeed is "piss easy". To each his own may be a philosophy worth adopting.|||let him believe what he likes... clearly he is an ignorant twatt! if its so easy why doesn't he got to uni and get a doctorate?|||You're dealing with someone who is that sophisticated he resorts to using that sort of term to get his point across and you're worrying whether he has a valid point?|||Now you really are a philosopher! Extrapolating much more out of a phrase than it actually contains. This is the philosophers we know and love, making a mountain out of a molehill. Lighten up mate, it is just a throwaway comment, thats all.
