I was overweight and like a shadow. When I came into some $, I started working out and eating better, and I had my hair professionally bleached and got blue contacts. My quasi-b/f says I look strange (Asian) and it's fake.
*Why is it wrong for me to experiment a little?
I have also told my family, I want to get a mini extreme makeover. Though i lost weight, I still have cellulite, stretch marks, old acne scars, and some pockets of fat I can't seem to get rid of. My mom also recommended I get eye lids (I have Asian eyes - common surgery in Asia, I think here it's called somehing like Blephopaty?). ANYWAYS, everyone keeps saying it's dangerous and vein.
I have felt inferior looking most of my life, what is wrong with minor surgery? My friends dad is surgeon in NYC and said most celebrities have had some work they just do slowly over time so you don't notice. In fact, he said his biggest clients now are everyday Jane using credit card.|||I think its very fake: you're inadvertently trying to turn yourself into a Scandinavian woman!!! Blue eyes: unnatural. Blonde Hair: even more unnatural.
Try growing out the blonde and keeping your natural color. Perhaps get a super flattering cut instead of drastically dying your hair. Take out the contacts too. Asians are so pretty as they are, they don't need to be changing themselves into white girls.
Be proud of your ethnicity, you aren't a white girl!! So don't turn yourself into one.
It also sounds like you have self esteem problems. You really should go to a therapist so that you can learn to cope with your new body (because things are different after you lose weight) and build your self esteem. It's SO important that you do this, and you need to do this before you even consider doing plastic surgery because if you don't you'll still feel the same way after.
Don't get that stupid eyelid surgery. Your mom is obviously one of those typical Asian Americans who aren't proud of their ethnicity and culture. Its annoying really when Asians try to "american-ize" themselves..BE PROUD of your eyes.
Cellulite: can't get rid of. Even skinny girls have it.
Stretch marks: try rubbing vitamin e oil on it and/or cocoa butter. I've heard that this works GREAT..its what pregnant women are recommended to do.
Fat: just keep working out. Wait another year and exercise a couple times a week, eat right, and hopefully by 2009 you could have an even better figure.
I can't stop you from doing plastic surgery, but remember: you get what you pay for. If you find a cheap surgeon, you are muuuch more likely to have bad complications. Find the best surgeon you can..in the US.
I think waiting until 2009 is great because you could lose even more weight, see a therapist to get your esteem up, save up some money for a really good surgeon, and perhaps even save money because if you keep exercising and eating right you could lose some of that weight and not have to get as much done!! You might even find that by 2009 you don't need the surgeries anymore!!|||Before you do anything drastic, I think you need to get a big self-esteem boost and love yourself for who you are and how you were born.
Why become a blue-eyed blonde when you were born Asian? Love your background and your culture. Don't conform to the norms of America...please. There's too many clones here already.|||working out and eating better ~ awesome
bleaching your hair ~ no problem
contacts to change the color of your eyes ~ creepy (it really does look weird)
plastic surgery that would change the look of your ethnicity ~ yes, very fake. and very wrong.|||First and last points: It is FOR YOU that you are changing and there is nothing wrong with that. You have the right to do whatever it is that makes you feel best about yourself. I say good luck to you, and I hope you end up with everything you want. =)|||That's good that you lost weight and trying to look your best. Don't over do it. Keep it simple accept what you look like. It's easy to make your self look different without all that surgery. You got your hair done and some contacts. Go and get a whole new wardrobe, make up, different hair styles. Don't become a barbie doll just create your own look and style. I did it and I am still working on it.|||Well nothing really is wrong with cosmetic surgery itself--the only thing is that you will most likely find that once you get the eyelid surgery or whatever else you have planned, you will still somehow feel miserable, inferior, etc. It sounds corny but it is your self esteem you need to work on. Nothing can really be done about stretch marks (time fades them) or cellulite (try some of the new lotions on the market). If you like your blond hair and blue contacts, that's fine. I agree it's far from your natural coloring, but if it makes you feel good then all power to you. I'm no shrink, but it sound like you have bigger problems stemming from self-image rather than any huge physical flaws. I would think a long time before you go ahead with any surgery--and save for it first--debt will only make you more miserable, and you might end up making yourself look so different that you won't be any happier, but simply more detached from who you are. I know this sounds lame but you do need to figure out who you really are. No amount of surgery or money will "fix" this.
Keep on working out, cultivate GOOD relationships (this quasi-boyfriend doesn't sound like he's very supportive), and you might start to feel better about yourself. There will always be people who are better looking and worse looking than you are. Try to learn to love yourself. Even go to a psychologist--might be money better spent to try to get to the root of your insecurities. Do you want to be white? Be proud of your heritage. No amount of plastic surgery, bleach, or colored contacts will change who you are.|||I don't think that is fake at all. It depends on how you define the word fake. If you believe that getting a makeover will make you feel better and you still being the same old person..that's okay. Fake is when you're trying to be someone that you're not, trying to hide the real you because you're ashamed of who you are.
I know plenty of people who get eyelids because they don't have it, or they are trying to stretch it and make their lids bigger. As long as you think it will look better on you. Remember, once you get yourselves into the surgery thing, you have to be careful because sometimes it might not turn out as great as you think it would. Goodluck.|||You are searching for beauty and perfection which you will never find from cosmetic surgery....you should change how you feel about yourself from within and not keep changing your outward appearance. You will never be satisfied and keep going for more surgeries and lipsosuction etc if you don't recognize your self worth is based more on what is inside than outside.|||You are fake. Accept what you are and stop wasting everyones time with paragraphs about how crappy your life was, until you followed the pathetic life of a celebrity. Knock-Knock ......Who's there?....A stupid surgeon manipulating an idiot into paying them more $ so they can be more rich and more pompous!|||There is nothing wrong with experimenting with your looks, however, no surgery is 'minor' and things can happen. There are a lot of people who went in with the idea of it being 'minor' and came out looking a lot worse or had unforeseen complications (didn't Kayne West's mom just die from complications from 'minor' plastic surgery?!)
That being said, the more important thing is this. If you have felt inferior looking for most of your life it may be you have self-esteem issues and no amount of surgery will change that. Perhaps you need to change how you feel about yourself inside before you start changing your external look.|||I don`t think that there is anything wrong with you wanting to eat healthier and wanting to get into shape- that`s perfectly fine and doesn`t make you 'fake'. If your hair is bleached, technically it is fake because it isn`t your natural colour. If you purchased blue contacts, technically they are fake as well because well, it isn`t your natural eye colour. Don`t get me wrong though- I don`t think there is anything wrong with either personally. It`s okay to want to experiment a little here and there! Not to mention, really fun trying out new looks. I`ve also bleached my hair and tried out different contact colours in the past. =)
I think it would be alright for you to look into some sortof surgery to get rid of cellulite, stretch marks, and acne scars- you`ve done your part of losing the weight and there are somethings which can`t be resolved with diet and exercise so that`s where surgery comes into play. Now- I think for those specific things I listed, you would be getting the surgery for the right reasons. As for the eyelid surgery, I`m sorry but I`m against that. You should be proud of your ethnicity and love your eyes! I`m sure your eyes are gorgeous the way that they are- so please, don`t get surgery to change them. It`s changing a part of who you actually are, you were born with eyes like that... why change them? I think if you got that surgery it would be for the wrong reasons honestly. You shouldn`t feel the need to conform to some sortof 'typical' beauty that society always portrays as 'beautiful'. Experimenting with temporary contact colours is one thing- but getting surgery to change your facial features is another and I`m against that.
I hope I`ve helped.. obviously these are just my own opinions and I realize it`s not my choice but I thought I`d give yah some input. xx|||first off congrats on the weight loss. a small make over is a good feeling but, the surgery, yes all surgery is dangerous...my opinion, I agree w/the boyfriend, there's nothing wrong with change or some changable expeirmenting but you are changing who you are. it seems you don't like yourself. surgery is very dangerous even if it's minor...dr.s will say anything to get paid
